STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
1) Please describe the student-run campus environmental/sustainability organization in which you have a leadership role.
Name of organization: Students for Sustainability
Number of active members: 20
Website:
Date of last meeting: April 27, 2009
Frequency of meetings: Once every week during the school year.
Key issues addressed and programs implemented since August 2008: We
campaigned strongly for new buildings on campus to be built up to LEED standards by hosting lunch seminars open to the students and faculty.
Progress made on each issue/program since August 2008: There has been
increased discussion around campus this year about the importance of building more environmentally friendly buildings while conforming with a tightening budget. The recently completed Kappa Sigma fraternity house is considered a great success. Although the extra money was not spent to get the house officially inspected and certified, it is being built according to LEED standards. Here is link to the story which made the front page of our student paper.

[X ] No
[ ] Yes. Please describe:
OTHER ACTIVITIES
4) Please describe any additional campus sustainability activities or projects that you or your group has initiated at your school: This year we purchased enough recycling bins for every living unit (both dorms and Greek housing). We also purchased 15 new bicycles known around campus as "green bikes". These bikes can be seen around campus and are available for use by any of the students. They have been very popular and we hope that they have helped make everyone more aware of alternative means of transportation.
5) Please list and briefly describe any other student-run organizations related to campus sustainability at your school, and provide URLs if available (e.g., student groups; student government committees; student-run food co-ops, gardens/farms, bike co-ops) and provide contact information of the student leaders, if possible:
Questions 6 is for informational purposes only; your response will NOT be included in the Report Card evaluation process.
6) Please list any regional or national networks with which your group is affiliated (e.g., Energy Action Coalition/Campus Climate Challenge, Sierra Student Coalition, a state PIRG, a state student sustainability coalition):
