College Sustainability Report Card 2010

The Campus Sustainability Committee is currently drafting a climate action plan for the university. Energy Star products and environmentally preferable paper are purchased when available.

With an overall goal of carbon neutrality, the university has committed to several emission reduction benchmarks, including a 15 percent reduction from 2005 levels by 2015. Energy efficiency projects have included lighting retrofits and temperature setbacks.

Dining services purchases local items, including meats, dairy products, and some produce. Postconsumer food waste is sent to the ACRES campus farm to be composted. Facilities runs a comprehensive recycling program, including the collection of electronic waste.

The university strives for all new construction and major renovations to meet LEED Silver standards. Five campus buildings meet LEED qualifications. Water conservation technologies, such as low-flow plumbing units and irrigation fixtures, have been installed around campus.

Several student groups aim to raise awareness about sustainability issues and implement campus initiatives, including ACRES, the student-run campus farm, and the student government's Student Sustainability Council. The Campus Sustainability Committee employs three student interns each year, and new-student orientation features community service activities focused on sustainability.

The university runs a shuttle service to on- and off-campus destinations. Students and employees may utilize the Poke's Spokes Bike Library program, which makes 25 bicycles available for rental for a small fee. The university fleet includes seven hybrid vehicles.

The University of Wyoming Foundation makes a list of external managers available to the public and sends the information upon request. The foundation does not make the shareholder voting record of its mutual funds public.

The foundation aims to optimize investment return and does not invest in renewable energy funds or community development loan funds.

The foundation does not have the ability to vote proxies, as the entire endowment is invested in mutual funds.
