1) Please describe the student-run campus environmental/sustainability organization in which you have a leadership role.

Frequency of meetings: Weekly

Key issues addressed and programs implemented since August 2008: Collaborated with Administrators and other student groups to have our President sign the PCC.  Worked with Reverb to bring environmental messaging to campus as part of a concert event with the band Guster . 

Progress made on each issue/program since August 2008: The president will be signing a tailored agreement, specific to our university, since climate neutrality is basically impossible given our needs and energy grid.  Participated in Ecovillage event during Guster concert showcasing environmental information and organizations to UD students. 

 

SUSTAINABILITY CHALLENGES AND COMPETITIONS

2) Does your group organize any sustainability challenges/competitions for your campus and/or with other colleges?

#1 - Name of competition: Blackout

Year initiated: 2005

Frequency of competition: Yearly

Participants: All students living in dorms

Incentives: Free food for the dorm, named as winners

Goal of competition: Decrease energy use

Percent of energy/water/waste reduced: Do not presently have data

Lasting effects of competition: people remember from year to year, builds a greener campus culture. This year we hope to monitor energy use in the months following the competition.
