STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
1) Please describe the student-run campus environmental/sustainability organization in which you have a leadership role.
Name of organization: Students for Ecological Design
Number of active members: 20
Website: http://daap.uc.edu/sed/
Date of last meeting: May 2009
Frequency of meetings: weekly
Key issues addressed and programs implemented since August 2008:
Sustainability lecture series at DAAP, farmers market on campus, uc urban farm, sustainability awareness around campus, awareness in local grade schools and high schools, continue recycling, sell canvas bags to discourage plastic bag consumption, 2010 Imperative and 2030 Challenge
Progress made on each issue/program since August 2008:
We sponsored two lectures in the spring, used our bi-weekly newsletter ComPOST to provide information to students regarding green design, we had volunteers at the urban farm, and started a farmers market in the spring. We had four markets but SED hopes to increase this in the fall. We had a Sustainability Day at Dulles but never established a regular program. The recycling program struggled because it was unclear whether custodians were responsible for bins or SED members. We had a few bake sales to raise money to get canvas bags to sell around campus. After years of trying, we were finally successful! We started to incorporate 2010 into the redesign of the curriculum for the switch to semesters. Some members met with directors of programs in DAAP to discuss.

SUSTAINABILITY IN STUDENT GOVERNMENT
3) Does your student government include a specific position or committee dedicated to campus sustainability issues?
[ ] No
[ X] Yes. Please describe: The heads of all the sustainability groups have meetings biweekly typically. These need to be more frequent though, to keep everyone abreast of what’s going on. Things got a little disorganized in spring quarter.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
4) Please describe any additional campus sustainability activities or projects that you or your group has initiated at your school:
We started recycling at DAAP two years ago. We still need to work on solidifying the program however.
5) Please list and briefly describe any other student-run organizations related to campus sustainability at your school, and provide URLs if available (e.g., student groups; student government committees; student-run food co-ops, gardens/farms, bike co-ops) and provide contact information of the student leaders, if possible: Leaders for Environmental Awareness and Protection have students from many disciplines that promote sustainability on campus. They are involved in many activities with SED including National Campus Sustainability Day, Focus the Nation, Earth Week, etc. They sponsor/attend sustainability lectures as well as create volunteer opportunities for students.
The law students also have an environmental group.
We also have regular meetings with a student government rep as well as approx. five other leaders on campus to coordinate events on campus throughout the year.
Questions 6 is for informational purposes only; your response will NOT be included in the Report Card evaluation process.
6) Please list any regional or national networks with which your group is affiliated (e.g., Energy Action Coalition/Campus Climate Challenge, Sierra Student Coalition, a state PIRG, a state student sustainability coalition): Emerging Green Builders Cincinnati and USGBC Cincinnati, 2010 Imperative
