Recyclemania—completed competition with strong showing

Go by Bike—training sessions and educational meetings.  Initiative has been started and is growing

Student Gardens for PE Credit—The student gardens have been created and student gardeners now receive PE Credit.

Energy Czars: student Workers—As a step to scale back on energy consumption.  2 students have been hired to turn off lights and stabilize thermostats.

Green Squirrel (website)—Website has been updated and publishing up-to-date information

Local Food in the Dining Center—Bi-monthly introduction of organic, local foods for campus consumption

Community Outreach—Had one meeting open to the Haverford College community.  5 students not in the group attended

Solar Panel installation—A Building has been selected and installation is being initiated

Composting—An in depth analysis of Haverford’s waste stream is near completion.  After this a formal proposal shall be made to college administrators.

OTHER ACTIVITIES
4) Please describe any additional campus sustainability activities or projects that you or your group has initiated at your school:
  Go By Bike is an initiative designed to provide alternatives to fuel-guzzling cars.  It offers tutorials, safety instructions and training sessions for bike riders of every facet of the Haverford community.

Bookstore and Coop discount—in an attempt to limit the consumption of plastic cups, the premiere campus alternative to cafeteria dining offered a discount on drinks if the consumer brought a Haverford mug/nalgene.

5) Please list and briefly describe any other student-run organizations related to campus sustainability at your school, and provide URLs if available (e.g., student groups; student government committees; student-run food co-ops, gardens/farms, bike co-ops) and provide contact information of the student leaders, if possible: E-House is an environmentally friendly housing alternative approved by the college, managed and organized by students.  It features numerous initiatives to bolster community awareness and support for environmental issues and organic living tips.

EarthQuakers is an active club geared towards grappling with environmental issues confronting the Haverford student body as well as the community at large.
