Key issues addressed and programs implemented since August 2008: Energy Campaign, Composting program in Hopkins Center Café, “Trashion” Show,
Progress made on each issue/program since August 2008: 2,000 signatures from students, faculty and staff on the Energy Campaign pledge saying they will take 8 steps to reduce energy consumption.

Year initiated: 2008
Frequency of competition: This year
Participants: Students living in dorm floors monitored by Project Greenlite
Incentives: $1,000 for an energy improvement for that dorm. Also Pizza Party.
Goal of competition: Get dormitories to reduce energy consumption through real time feedback.
Percent of energy/water/waste reduced: Approx 15%.
Lasting effects of competition: TBD.

Goal of competition: Incentive for Greek houses to learn about and practice responsible energy practices

SUSTAINABILITY IN STUDENT GOVERNMENT
3) Does your student government include a specific position or committee dedicated to campus sustainability issues?

[ x]  Yes. Please describe: There is no official position or committee for sustainability within Sutudent Assembly, however environmental issues arise and are handled with sustainability in mind.
  
OTHER ACTIVITIES
4) Please describe any additional campus sustainability activities or projects that you or your group has initiated at your school: 

                                                          We combined groups 4 and 5

              We are working on a “Trashion” show for the fall in which students will model various trash and recyclable items to educate the student body on over

               consumption and recycling on campus (also brings environmentalism into Pop Culture).

              We send students down to Powershift every year and sent 45 this past year.

              Big Green Bus- Not in the ECO domain, but the Big Green Bus is a group of students who tour the country in a veggie oil powered charter bus

               informing the nation on green living.

              Project Greenlite: A collaboration between students and faculty that designed a program to give real time energy use feedback to students. An

               animation of a polar bear shows students how much relative energy their floor is using and when energy consumption is high, the bear looks

              Dartmouth Coalition on Climate Change (DC3): Group that spreads information about climate change on campus and organizes speakers from

               Dartmouth student body as well as bringing in outside speakers. James Hansen and Jason Grumet spoke at Dartmouth this year at an event that was

               co-organized by DC3.

              Dartmouth Energy Collaborative: Group of graduate students in Tuck business school and Thayer school of engineering that organize programs at   

                graduate schools on environmental issues.

              Dartmouth Energy Journal Club: Graduates and Undergraduates who meet weekly to discuss recent papers in environmental fields.

              Ecovores: Campus group that promotes sustainable dining on campus.
