We purchased and are in the process of installing shower timers and rentable clothes drying racks and Kill-a-Watt meters in each of the large residential halls.
5) Please list and briefly describe any other student-run organizations related to campus sustainability at your school, and provide URLs if available (e.g., student groups; student government committees; student-run food co-ops, gardens/farms, bike co-ops) and provide contact information of the student leaders, if possible:
-Synergy House: a student run sustainable living house. Six students live in the house and are responsible for its upkeep. It serves as a central hub for environmental discussion. Students use a gray water system with dish water and shower water to flush toilets, are not on a meal plan and therefore purchase local and organic food, collect much of the off campus houses' compost, and tend a garden in the back yard. (I am a former resident and can serve as a contact person.
-CC Garden: a student run organic farm plot is located behind the President of the College's home about .5 miles from campus. The farm grows organic produce and an orchard, and keeps chickens for compost and to sell their eggs. The produce and eggs are sold to local Colorado Springs residents as well as the College's catering service, Bon Appétit to be prepared and served in the campus dining halls. http://www.coloradocollege.edu/ccfarm/ccfarm.htm
-CC Bike Coop: the bike coop is a student run organization in which students teach other students about bicycle maintenance. The coop receives bikes from donors, fixes them, and gives them out to students on campus with a desire to be involved with the coop.
