Brigham Young University has designated a number of environmental categories as priorities in creating a sustainable campus. Biodegradable soaps and cleansers are used throughout operations. Food service equipment purchased after 2006 is energy efficient.

The university has implemented several energy efficiency upgrades, including lighting retrofits and installation of variable speed drives on pumps and fans.
Food & Recycling

Dining services is integrating some local and organic food into its menus. One dining location offers biodegradable plates and napkins. The university's recycling program accepts aluminum, cardboard, paper, and electronics, and lawn waste is composted.
