College Sustainability Report Card 2010

Bradley University replaces old equipment with Energy Star qualified products when financially feasible, and the school also purchases some Green Seal and Environmental Choice products. The school's paper products are made with 20 percent post-consumer material, and all trash can liners are made with 100 percent recycled materials.

The university has implemented programs to improve energy efficiency, including temperature setbacks and system tune-ups. Bradley purchases replacement equipment with improved energy efficiency. The university has placed stickers on light switches around campus, reminding community members to turn lights off when rooms are unoccupied.

Dining services at Bradley offers sustainable seafood, vegan options at every meal, and exclusively cage-free eggs. Trays were eliminated from the dining halls in 2008, cutting food waste in half. The university has a comprehensive recycling program, and in an effort to reduce waste, the university donates clothing and furniture in good condition to appropriate charities.

The university employs some green building principles and technology, including increased use of natural light and low-flow fixtures.

The Student Environmental Action Committee (SEAC) provides information about on-campus recycling. As a joint venture, SEAC and facilities management have developed the Energy Conservation Committee.

The university has installed bike racks throughout campus.

The university makes a list of endowment holdings available only to trustees and senior administrators. The university does not make its shareholder voting record public.

The university aims to optimize investment return and is exploring, but not currently invested in, renewable energy funds and community development loan funds. The endowment is currently invested in on-campus sustainability projects.

The university asks that its investment managers handle the details of proxy voting.
