Texas Christian University has a stated annual energy reduction goal that is tracked by the physical plant. The university is pursuing an aggressive energy conservation and retrofit program, replacing chilled water systems, pumping systems, air handling units, and boilers with high-efficiency units. A state-of-the-art energy management and control system has been installed.

The physical plant department recycles yard waste, scrap metal, and construction material residue. All paper products from administrative and academic facilities are collected and placed in specially marked recycling containers. Although no official recycling program exists in residence halls, a moderate amount of recycling takes place. Utensils and to-go containers used by dining services are biodegradable and the largest dining facility on campus has gone trayless.

The university has a stated goal to design new buildings and major retrofits to LEED standards. A new 74,000-square-foot academic facility, currently under construction, will be registered for LEED certification.

Adduco Viridis is the university's environmental student group. For Earth Day 2008, the group hosted a Concert for the Macaws to raise money for bird habitat preservation. Students participated in RecycleMania.

As per the campus master plan, parking was moved to the campus perimeter to encourage a pedestrian- and bike-friendly campus. A free campus shuttle system connects parking areas to campus destinations. Local buses and trains can be ridden for free with a valid university ID card. The Purple Bike Program provides free bikes for campus community use.

The university makes neither its shareholder voting record nor its list of endowment holdings public.

The university aims to optimize investment return and is currently invested in renewable energy funds.

The university provides its investment managers with guidelines that determine its proxy votes.
